Try an off-peak time if you can; after more than a week of looking I finally found one on an early-morning login session. I was already about 3/4 of the way done with the new skyscale masteries before I ever found an egg, which is a ridiculous level of disconnect between parts of the newly "streamlined" process.

Posted December 6, 2021. I've made the skyscale on 9 different accounts. The first 3 collections (scales, eggs, sick skyscales) are the most annoying part to me. But it's not as bad as you're making it out to be either. The skyscale is an end of Season 4 reward and it's somewhat overtuned.
